European Collaboration of Students through the Study of the Sun
Students in different countries perform both collaborative and independent (mostly experimental) activities related to the Sun. These includes astronomical (solar) observations and the use of the Sun as a source of energy. This involves both whole class activities and project work by smaller numbers of students. Students from the participating schools develop their linguistic and communication skills through a variety of means such as reporting their findings on a dedicated website and at an annual conference with groups of students. A continual dialogue between the students is facilitated by an electronic forum. Although the main emphasis is the physical aspects of the Sun, contributions from other curriculum areas develop awareness of the role of the Sun in our common culture and hence enrich the experience of the students.
