Activities in Italy
Niveau supérieurWe believe that a cooperation between international partners enriches the education system, both for the teachers and for the pupils. Sharing ideas and experience increases the children’s knowledge in order to develop an understanding of the world. Especially, we are interested in a partnership concerning an astronomical content because since several years our school has developed special Projects and Courses in Astronomy. Thus, this cooperation with European partners will provide opportunities for students and teachers to discover more about the sun, to share methods and knowledge, to create ideas.
The focus of the Astronomical courses in our school is “archeo-astronomy” in the city of Rome: students are guided to investigate how the motions of the celestial bodies – especially the sun - have had an influence on the architectural structure of the city.
Our objective is to contribute in a collaborative community to study the sun with our integrated point of view and, at the same time, to contribute to school curriculum to develop higher scientific knowledge.
- THE HORIZON AS AN OBSERVATORY Par Leonarda Fucili — Dernière modification 21-04-2008 00:21
- Abstract This article is a simple illustration of a series of lessons concerning “horizon astronomy”. In the large terrace above our school, in open air, students observe the skyline and make a large, circular drawing of it. It becomes an astronomical observatory: on the plotted skyline, the rising and sunset points of the sun, the moon and the stars can be registered in a long-term activity, as the ancient astronomers did. The first organisation of space (the orientation) and the first measure of time (a sort of calendar) just started like this.
